Camera settings and their importance

Went on a hike on Sunday, the weather was beautiful, sun was shining, not too sunny not too cloudy and I took along my macro lens. We stopped for a bit of a break and I found some of these small flowers to take pictures. Looked great on my screen, couldn’t wait to download a few at home to see how they turned out.

About an hour later while taking some other photos I couldnt figure out why my shutter speed needed to be so fast, and upon a little further investigation realized that I had my ISO (film speed) set to 800. So, this took some photos that should’ve been really nice crisp photos and turned them in to sort of OK grainy photos. Here is one of them.

Lesson learned: Come up with a checklist of things to check before taking shots (white balance, ISO, etc etc etc). I’ll get the hang of this eventually, i hope
