San Francisco
I had to go out to California for work last week, and I had a few hours to act like a tourist. Since i’ve never been there, and I am an engineer, I’ve always wanted to see the Golden Gate Bridge.
Had a few hours and once I finally got there (I got lost twice on the way from the airport) I was amazed at the size of this bridge and how it looks exactly as picturesque as you could imagine. So, here are some pictures from my adventure. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see too much else in the city, except from the car. Liz and I will have to go back soon, it was so beautiful out there, and Virgin America has very cheap flights from Dulles.
And so, as I’m driving back, I see this great beach off to my right. I stop at the toll booth, hand the operator my 5 bucks, and ask:
“How do I get down to that beach over there”, to which the woman replies, “Well, I’ve never been, but if you take a right here, and follow the signs to Baker Beach, that should get you to the parking lot.”
So, I follow the nice woman’s instructions and drive to the beach, park my car and head out towards the water, wearing jeans, a t-shirt and tennis shoes, and of course carrying my camera.
As I’m walking down the beach, I look up to my right, and notice a man laying in the sand, and I said to myself, “that guy isn’t wearing any clothes”.
I keep on walking, and lo and behold, it’s a clothing optional beach, and it’s only the guys that are finding clothing optional. No wonder the lady from the toll booth had never been here.
It was still a really beautiful place, even if it was like being in a gym locker room. And it makes for a funny story, at least I thought so. Only in San Francisco
