I got tagged by a VIP

I’ve been in a posting slump for over a week now, and I just realized that Lisa tagged me here then didn’t notify my that I had been tagged (or if she did, I somehow missed it in a nablopomo frenzy.) I read the post, but must not have gotten all the way to the bottom to see that I had been tagged. It is after all, 64 things that I need to come up with.

8-
Things I’m passionate about…
Things I want to do before I die…
Things I say often….
Books I’ve read recently…
Songs I could listen to over and over…
Things that attract me to my best friends….

By the end of the week, I will try to answer all of these. I think I over-stretched myself a bit at the beginning of the month, I came on strong but posted a few too many cat photos. And I forgot that this whole thing is supposed to be fun.

I’ll start with the first one, and the 8 are listed in no particular order:

8 Things I’m Passionate About:
1. Anyone who knows me I love Ice Cream. I’m having it shipped in from Texas to Maryland just for my wedding reception. That’s serious dedication to a wonderful substance.
2. Music is also another thing that I am passionate about. I’m always fiddling with my iTunes library, making sure that I have new music to listen to. Always sharing new artists back and forth with Liz, always looking for that new great musician. My musical interests have changed a lot in the last couple years, but I’m happy with the direction it’s going.

3. Photography is somewhat of a renewed interest. Maybe an interest because my dad always walked around with his camera? I’m not really sure…

4. Family has always been important to me, I may not have always acted like it, but I think as I get older I am really seeing how important family is, especially now as I have my own family.

5. Staying Positive
I learned something from OddTodd a few years ago, that staying positive is always better than letting negative energy take over.

6. Liz (not a thing, she’s a person). I am wild about this woman.

7. My Friends. I don’t have a lot of friends, but the ones I have in my life I really care for. Every single one of them has characteristics that I admire.

8. Coffee. Anyone who has seen my coffee pot or witnessed first hand the ritual I go through every single morning would understand. I’m getting ready to some more beans….mmmm….lavazza super crema, I can’t wait.

8 Things I want to do before I die…
1. Travel…we made a list a while back of places both domestically and abroad that we’d like to get to. Should be quite doable, especially with our new fancy passport photos.
2. Stop paying rent. I’ve been a renter ever since I got out of college, and would like to buy a house. Should be doable soon, since I’m settling down and all.
3. Sell a photograph. Might be doable, I don’t just mean wedding photography, i’d like to have someone see my work and say “how much, I have a fat wallet!”
4. Own a sportscar. I know that’s a totally dudely midlife-crisisy thing to say, but I just like to drive, and I have a lot of fun driving. A Porsche Cayman or a BMW M3 would be nice, but I’m not that picky. I’d settle for a GTI. German is a requirement. I suppose I’d be ok with a Ferrari, but let’s be at least somewhat realistic. Living in Virginia with the new abusive drivers fees, it’s not going to happen while I live here. I already paid my $180 speeding ticket for doing 60 in a 35, and was very lucky I didn’t get hit with wreckless driving. I drive the speed limit now.
5. Take a cross country vacation with my family. It’s just me and liz right now, and if it’s the two of us, then I’m happy with that. If it’s the two of us and some little rug rats then great!!
6. Skydive. Kind of a strange one, I suppose, but It’s always been an interest, and if George Bush senior can do it at 83, then I should be able to do it at some point.
7. Take a cooking class. I love to cook for me, for Liz. I usually just take a recipe out of a book and make it my own, but I’d like to learn how to come up with something great from scratch. I can’t really do that just yet.
8. Lasik. Ok…so it’s not a life or death thing, but I’d like to be able to see the alarm clock in the morning. I don’t wanna mess with contacts or glasses any more.

I will try to get to the rest of the 8 things by the end of the week…this is a good start for now.

And just to post a picture, here’s one I took last weekend with my ring light. I would like to begin to shoot some series of photos, rather than just having a bunch of individual pictures. I think this will go with the other leaves, and I’ll post another tomorrow.

Very very busy weekend

It has been a very very busy weekend. We’ve been doing a lot of wedding planning, flowers, cakes, priests, you name it. So, I didn’t really take any pictures, and there’s not a lot of time left this weekend. For a little extra reading, check out the bar on the left to see some of the blog postings i’ve read that I marked as “share-worthy”.

Tag, you’re it, or maybe you’re not it.

Now THIS is how you answer questions when you get tagged…wish I were this brilliant.

Any who…no new photos to post today. I did take another one of Daphne that was pretty darn cute, but since I promised no more cat photos, I’m not sure what to do. Oh wait, we went to renew our passports, and I figured since I can sometimes take a purty picture, I should be able to handle a passport photo. Liz LOVES her photo. I know…they’re boring, and since we spent all day running errands, this is what I have for the day. Not glamorous, not fun, just Jeremy and Liz.

EDIT: For anyone needing to acquire a passport, the US Department of State provides guidelines for producing High Quality passport photos here. And I know the photos are boring, but I encouraged the subject to have a natural expression, just like the guidelines recommend.

Ok, I’ll play along

I’ve been tagged three times now, once by Zee and once by Julie, and now by Nancy. However, even though I’ve been tagged by three people, I am just going to come up with seven random/weird facts. Hope this doesn’t make me come across as a sour apple. Here we go.

Here are the “rules” I am supposed to follow:

* Link to the person that tagged you, and post the rules on your blog.
* Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself.
* Tag 7 random people at the end of your post, and include links to their blogs.
* Let each person know that they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Seven Random and/or Weird Facts about Me.
1. Not so random, or weird, I suppose, but I LOVE Ice Cream. I grew up in an “ice cream town” and now that I can’t get my beloved Blue Bell any longer, I’ve been making my own.

2. My 2nd toe is longer than my big toe. My mother always told me that this meant I was going to be the head of the household when I grew up. I’m not really sure if there was ever any research done on this, or if she has anything to back up her story. My future mother in law tells me that I have Morton’s Toe, which after reading the first few lines of the Wiki, it appears that I have a foot disorder, and it’s an evolutionary throwback to my tree grasping monkey predecessors. It was also the idealized form for the sculpture in Ancient Greece. That seems an accurate description of me. Thanks FMIL. Here are some other interesting things about people’s toes…definitely worth a read. Glad to know that I have werewolf potential. Hopefully I will be able to use the cool werewolf skills some day.

3. I don’t really like sharing stuff like this with complete strangers. I normally consider myself a fairly private person. I do realize, however that by blogging, and by signing up for things like NaBloPoMo, that I am going to have a lot of people I don’t know visiting my little place here on the internet.

4. I am a world class drummer in my own mind. I played percussion from Junior High all the way through my first two years of college. I love music, and have a nice collection of tunes on my 30GB iPod. If I go to a concert of an artist I like, and the drummer stinks, it kind of ruins from the whole experience for me. I shouldn’t be so negative.

5. I am madly in love with Liz. This isn’t really random or weird, I just want the whole world to know. I love even just the thought of spending my whole life with her. She loves her Diet Cokes.

6. I had “surgery” on both of my big toes when I was in junior high because I had ingrown toenails. When I was done, I walked into the neighboring room and they had to put my mother on oxygen because the sight of my inflamed toe made her sick. After one of the procedures, my dad took me to a monster truck rally at the Astrodome in Houston. I have no memory of who “won” that night, whether it was Grave Digger or Bigfoot.

7. I (seem to)have really great luck selling things on Craigslist. When Liz and I moved in together, I put most of my things up on Craigslist and they were gone within 24 hours, and some things I got more money for them than I was asking. I didn’t feel like I was giving things away for way less than they were worth or anything. Liz can’t seem to sell anything she’s put up on Craigslist. I had a whole team of firefighters show up to my house to pick up an area rug to take back to their fire house. I guess the only advice I could give to anybody selling anything is to put up really good pictures of things (pasting the HTML of pictures from flickr is a great way to list good full size clear photos rather than using the Craigslist upload tool). This may not even be a weird phenomenon, but it just seems strange to me that there are that so many people out there trolling for a $25 coffee table, or willing to pay $100 for somebody’s 7 year old used mattress.

Now here’s where it gets tricky. I’m not going to find 7 new people, I don’t want to torture them. It was an interesting exercise, though.
